Activity: Unit Review: Big Ideas Questions (see questions below); BIG IDEAS QUIZ FRIDAY!

Task: For these “big idea” topics, write a detailed paragraph that clearly answers each question. Include relevant examples from history, logical reasoning and explanation.

Questions:
1. Describe the Feudal System. Explain how the system of obligation works for all levels. Be sure to discuss how it functions as a socialpolitical and economic structure. (10 marks)

2. Describe the Feudal Manor. Why was it necessary for a manor to be self-sufficient? (5 marks)

3. Discuss the positive and negative consequences of the Crusades for Europeans. (5 marks)

2. How did the ideas of the Enlightenment (i.e. humanism, democracy, rights), the influence of Philosophers, and the success of the American Revolution and English Civil War help to drive the desire for change and revolution in France?

3. During the French Revolution, the people experimented with several forms of government, as proposed by these political clubs: Jacobins, Girondists, and Royalists. Outline the style of government that each of these clubs wanted for France. Discuss their methods for achieving their goals.
