Core 7 Announcement

Please welcome TRU Pre-service teachers, Mr. David Schriek and Mrs. Emily Chretien to the class. They will be completing a teaching practicum with us for the next several weeks, teaching  units in Science (Climate Change), Social Studies (Indigenous Myths & Legends), and Math (Statistics & Probability).

Indigenous Myths & Legends

Activity: Students listened to two Indigenous myths. They learn about who Indigenous People’s are, what Indigenous myths are, and how Indigenous myths perpetuate cultural worldviews (knowledge of the world, cultural belonging, morals, and values). Students consider whether it is appropriate to judge another culture’s myth as false.

Investigating Ancient Civilizations

Project: Postcards from the past. Students select one ancient civilization to explore and send home 5 “postcards from the past” that reflect aspects of history, culture or how people lived in this era.
